Dune: Awakening Sells One Millon Copies in Two Weeks, Becoming Funcom’s Fastest-Selling Title Ever

Dune: Awakening, the survival game based on Frank Herbert’s Dune, has sold over a million copies, developer Funcom announced Monday. The studio confirmed that the game was now its fastest-selling title ever. Dune: Awakening launched on PC via Steam earlier this month and received critical acclaim. The game is set on the desert planet of Arrakis, where players must survive harsh conditions in a multiplayer open world.

Dune Awakening Sells 1 Million Copies

Funcom announced the sales milestone on the game’s website and shared an infographic detailing in-game player statistics.

“Dune: Awakening launched June 10th and 1,000,000 players have awakened! It’s now Funcom’s fastest selling game ever,” the studio said. “To put it into perspective, it took Conan Exiles one year to reach this number. We’re truly humbled and thankful for this reception.”

“Launch has been a Coriolis storm, and we’re still riding that mighty gale. We have seen so many amazing things from all of you – the bases, the close calls with Shai-Hulud, the epic vehicle jumps, the struggles, discoveries, victories, heroic deaths, and so much more…”

Dune Awakening on Steam

Dune: Awakening has seen healthy concurrent player numbers on Steam, too, following its launch. The survival title has reached an all-time peak of nearly 190,000 players on Valve’s platform, as per SteamDB charts. It’s among the top 10 most played games on Steam over the past 24 hours at the time of writing.

On Monday, in an open letter to players, Funcom also confirmed that Dune: Awakening would evolve to allow PvE players to experience end-game content without hindrances. Players will be able to progress in the game’s shared open world without unwanted conflict and PvP requirements, the studio said.

Dune Awakening launched on Steam on June 10. The multiplayer survival title drops players on Arrakis, where they must brave harsh conditions, deadly threats and sandworms in a shared open world alongside other players. Dune: Awakening is planned to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X in 2026.
