CNN — Of the many depopulated Italian towns to launch bargain home schemes in recent years, none have been more successful than Sicily’s Sambuca di Sicilia. Sambuca’s home sell-offs have seen huge demand, with American buyers rushing to snap up discounted houses in the hillside town for a symbolic €1 in 2019 and €2 in 2021. Previously largely unknown, even to some Italians, Sambuca has since welcomed so many Americans that…
Tesco’s ‘Every little helps’ has been revealed as the UK’s most memorable slogan, according to new data shared exclusively with Marketing Week. It is followed by Nike’s ‘Just Do It’ and McDonald’s ‘I’m Lovin’ It’, showing successful taglines don’t need to mention a brand name to be instantly recognisable. The research, conducted by YouGov on behalf of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), surveyed 6,808 people across the UK, asking them to recall a slogan or strapline from an ad they remembered. The rest of the top five is made up of Heinz’s ‘Beanz Meanz Heinz’ and Autoglass’s ‘Autoglass Repair, Autoglass…
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are never out of the public eye, but their two kids — Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3 — are another matter. The Sussex children weren’t featured on the family’s 2023 holiday card, and they’re photographed only from the back in one shot included on the just-released 2024 card, which features multiple images of their famous parents.Given the level of interest in what little physical details we see of Archie and Lilibet — red hair and knee socks, mostly — it’s not hard to see why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been more hesitant…
Monday’s swift sell-off in the markets serves as a reminder for not only what’s been the driving force of the bull market thus far, but also what investors have been expecting to come in 2025. It’s all about Big Tech earnings. New developments from Chinese artificial intelligence company DeepSeek sparked the rout as investor concerns over brewing competition in the AI space for Nvidia (NVDA) and other Big Tech names prompted a pause in the US AI trade. Nvidia stock dropped more than 16%. Meanwhile, fellow «Magnificent Seven» members Microsoft (MSFT), Alphabet (GOOGL,GOOG), and Tesla (TSLA) were all off 2%…

Food is one of the necessities that’s seen outsize inflation in recent years, which has disproportionately impacted the lowest-income Americans.Justin Sullivan/Getty Images The lowest-income households have experienced the highest level of inflation in recent years. Lower-income people spend much of their income on items like food and housing, for which costs have spiked. Moderating rental rates and steady wage growth could help these households feel relief. Rising prices across the US economy have impacted every American over the past few years, but the lowest-income households have faced the greatest burden. The dynamic is reflected in the chart below, which shows…

As of January 22, Spirit has updated its contract of carriage, declaring passengers “shall not be permitted to board” or “may be required to leave an aircraft” if they are “barefoot or inadequately clothed, or whose clothing or article, including body art, is lewd, obscene, or offensive in nature.” It also describes “inadequately clothed” as “see-through clothing, not adequately covered, exposed breasts, buttocks or other private parts.” Fashion choices have long…

At a group level, ecommerce sales rose 2% during the quarter on a constant currency basis, with DTC up 1%, retail sales down 1% and wholesale revenue rising by 9%. While EMEA DTC revenue stalled,…
