In a trading update for the 16 weeks to 4 January 2025, Primark’s owner Associated British Foods (ABF) posted retail revenues in the quarter of £3.362m, with total group revenues standing at £6.732m. Overall, Primark’s total like-for-like sales declined by 1.9%, due to lower sales in the UK and Ireland. Accounting for 45% of group sales, UK and Ireland sales fell 4% and were down 6% on a like-for-like basis.…

Brazil has joined Spain and Germany in obstructing the operations of Sam Altman’s controversial World project. The National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) has suspended the services of the World project within the country. A notice about the development was issued over the weekend to Altman’s tech firm Tools for Humanity (TFH), that parents World. The Information Commissioner’s Office has laid out its 2025 objectives as it looks to promote responsible data use. The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has expanded its review of cookie compliance online to the top 1,000 websites in the UK as it looks to clamp down on poor practice in the industry. The regulator assessed the compliance of the top 200 websites in the UK last year and issued concerns to 134 organisations that they were contravening data protection laws.
