1. Aon Re loses Asia CEO as trio departs for Gallagher Re
Richard Jones, Kyung Won, and Vinay Ananthanarayanan are set to join Gallagher Re, the reinsurance broker has exclusively confirmed to InsuranceAsia News (IAN). Jones, Won and Ananthanarayanan are joining from Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions’ Singapore team.

2. Aon appoints new Asia Pacific CEO
Aon has confirmed Jennifer Richards as its CEO of Asia Pacific, effective from March 1. Richards will take up the role vacated by Anne Corona, who was recently named CEO of enterprise clients and global chief commercial officer. Richards has been serving as CEO of Aon Australia since October 2021. She will relocate from Sydney to Singapore in the coming months.

3. QBE beefs up leadership
QBE has appointed Beazley Digital CEO Ian Fantozzi to its leadership team as its new group executive for technology and operations. London-based Fantozzi is a Beazley veteran, having worked at the specialty (re)insurer since 2003.

4. Howden Re taps new Asia head of analytics role
Howden Re has appointed Emily Lo (pictured) as its head of analytics for Asia. Lo was most recently general insurance pricing and product development director at Axa Hong Kong and Macau, having joined the company over eight and a half years ago from Swiss Re.

5. Tokio Marine Holdings promotes 2 vice president directors amid reshuffle
Tokio Marine Holdings has promoted senior managing directors Kenji Okada and Kichiichiro Yamamoto to vice president directors, as part of a vast leadership reshuffle. Yoichi Moriwaki and Kiyoshi Wada will succeed Okada and Yamamoto as senior managing directors. The four appointments are part of a broader set of changes at Tokio Marine Holdings, which includes 23 new appointments and four resignations.

6. Markel names new head of marine liabilities in Singapore
Markel has announced the appointment of Alicia Leong as head of marine liabilities in Singapore. Leong joins from Munich Re Specialty – Global Markets, Syndicate, where she spent close to 10 years as a marine liability underwriter.

7. Allied World appoints APAC marine underwriter
Allied World has appointed Hafiz Zakaria (pictured) as an underwriter for its APAC marine division. Singapore-based Zakaria joins having spent over nine and a half years as an underwriter with AIG.

8. Labuan Re appoints new CEO
Malaysian reinsurer Labuan Reinsurance has appointed officer in charge Zaid Aziz Ibrahim as its new CEO and principal officer. Melissa Karim has also been appointed as the acting head of underwriting following redesignation.

9. Chubb Malaysia appoints ex-Olympian as P&C head
Former two-time Olympic swimmer Danil Bugakov has joined Chubb Malaysia as head of property and casualty. Bugakov, who represented Uzbekistan at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008, joins Chubb having spent over 11 and a half years with Hannover Re.

10. Austbrokers Corporate promotes new CEO
AUB Group subsidiary Austbrokers Corporate has appointed John Kay (pictured) as CEO. Kay joined the corporate insurance broking and risk advisory specialist in March 2024 as head of general broking and has been serving as acting CEO since October.
Austbrokers Corporate also appointed Phillip Agah as its head of broking, according to a LinkedIn update. Sydney-based Agah joined Austbrokers Corporate in June 2023 as national practice group manager for financial lines and has been instrumental in strengthening the firm’s specialist capabilities, the update added.
